Whether you’re self-isolating or are carrying out a state mandated quarantine and lockdown period, millions of people all over the world are finding unique ways to workout during self-isolation.

It’s important to look after both your physical and mental health while self-isolating as it’s part of staying healthy throughout the pandemic. Forget about the gyms. There are plenty of other ways to break a sweat while in lockdown.

Looking for inspiration? Here are our five top ways to workout during self-isolation, whether you’re interested in losing weight, building muscle or simply stretching your body to avoid getting those quarantine blues.

1. Try the Amazon Prime Workout Videos

Did you know that Amazon Prime offers more than free Prime delivery and access to their Amazon Video streaming service? That’s right, you’ll also be able to enjoy over 300 workout videos and movies included with your Prime membership. And, they don’t require any sort of special gym equipment to complete the workouts and feel the burn. Most workout videos average at about 30 minutes long. But, they’ve also got longer 60 to 70 minute videos that’ll help you get that full cardio workout at home you’ve been craving. Don’t have Prime? Sign up for the 30-day free trial just to use during quarantine.

2. Stretch in the Living Room

You don’t have to do a full HIIT workout at home to exercise during self-isolation. Sometimes, exercise is simply about moving and stretching your body. And, if you don’t quite feel like getting sweaty or simply don’t have the energy to do a full workout from home you can just stretch in your living room. Clear some space, open the blinds to let some sunlight in and then stretch your body in whatever way feels good. This counts as a workout, too!

3. Download the Nike Training Club App

You don’t have to be a Nike athlete to train like one during self-isolation. Nike is actually encouraging people to stay home and train at home as we work together to flatten the curve. And, they’re making it easier than ever to do so. Nike Training Club currently offers 185 free workouts at varying different skill levels through their app. And, the workouts come in all different categories such as strength, endurance and even mobility training. It’s an easy way to get a full body workout at home.

4. Watch Yoga Videos on YouTube

For those of you who live above neighbors in an apartment complex, you might feel a little uncomfortable doing HIIT workouts at home due to the noise. If that’s the case, or if you’re just looking for something a bit lighter than a full ab workout at home, try checking out some yoga videos on YouTube. Yoga with Adriene is a great place to start as she offers various different yoga workouts for relaxation, core strength and even ones for seniors specifically.

5. Search for Free Fitness Classes Online

In the face of coronavirus, we’ve seen numerous heartwarming displays of beauty and humanity all around the world. From Italians singing on their balconies to Spanish opera singers serenading their neighborhoods, residents in lockdown are finding ways to connect with their communities. And, this includes numerous people offering things online for free. Zumba instructors in Spain are offering free at-home workouts for residents of Madrid and a few gyms in the United States are offering remote access to their workouts via Instagram or Facebook. Search for these free classes and take advantage of them!
